FLEXIBLE FOAMED POLYOLEFINS LENOIR, NORTH CAROLINA, U.S.A., January 30, 2003 --- A quarter of a century’s dedicated commitment to producing a 100% closed fine-cellular foam finished part has lead PolyChem Alloy®, Inc. (PCA) to the production of a closed cell resilient foamed polyethylene insulation. This foamed elastomeric insulation possesses good cutting characteristics and low water and vapor permeability. The serviceability upper temperature limit for this foamed insulation is 210o F. Another major advantage of our proprietary insulation technology is the production of a very low dielectric loss (approximately 20 to 30 micro radians @ 2 GHz) CATV and RF coaxial cable with improved physical properties (bending radius of <2” for a 1” diameter dielectric). The thermoplastic elastomeric foam article is formed from a compound comprising approximately 10% of low loss styrenic elastomeric domain in polyolefin. Particularly suitable for inclusion in the foam composition of the present invention are those polyolefins, which are produced with a single-site catalyst and are generally referred to in the industry as metallocene polyethylene. The resilient closed cell recyclable foam produced with PCA’s elastomeric compound can achieve a density of 0.03 gm/cm3. The principal application for this foam insulation is in the replacement of cross-linked polyolefin foam insulation and in the production of a low loss resilient coaxial and RF dielectric insulation. “The patent is pending for the flexible foamed polyolefins”, said Chak Gupta, President of PCA. Major markets for PCA technology are in Building Construction, Appliance, and Wire & Cable. Headquartered in Lenoir, North Carolina, U.S.A., PolyChem Alloy®, Inc. is a technology based manufacturer of additives and chemical masterbatches and compounds. At PolyChem Alloy®, Inc. complying with six sigma protocol is the norm rather than the exception. PolyChem Alloy®, Inc. produces, inter-alia, an array of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) with Shore-A hardness ranging from ‘00’ to a Shore-A hardness of ‘70’, zero halogen FR compounds, and ultra low temp. (< -50o C) impact modifiers for the engineering resins.
